Hey there folks !!
I've only seen a couple forums that allow a true "Off Topic" thread, so as the subject line indicates, here's "More about Members".
My names George, but my good friends call me whatever they want. I'm owner/operator of a tree removal service in SW Ct. Been in the industry for 20 years this year. Part of the business is tree associated and the other two parts are firewood sales and snow plowing. We do get all that weather here. When I'm not busy doing my own work I sub out to 4 other tree companies and 3 other landscape companies. By trade, I'm a highly skilled climber specializing in high risk removals and utilize various size cranes to make the day safer.
I've been in the hobby since the age of 8 or so (mostly FW) but do have a little SW thing going until I can get into my own place along with my girl and the rest of our zoo. The current apartment setup is a 10g SW nano, a 10g FW RCS, a 20g Angel-Tetra tank, and a 55g Discus-Tetra tank. (The landlord is pretty cool here and I'm on the 3 floor so I've strategized in advance for tank placement). Currently in storage, there's another 8 tanks. Smallest is a 10g and the largest is a 265g. Some I've purchased and some have been free. No, I did not buy the 265g. Other parts of the zoo include 2 large GSD's and my girls hamster.
I took a small break from pets and hobbies when I joined the Navy in 91. That opportunity allowed me the chance to temporarily reside in a few other states as well as some places many never want to be. That was the Desert Storm/Support era.
I'm currently a state certified fire fighter and volunteer on a heavy duty rescue truck, while working to re certify as an EMT also. After I get thru with that I'm looking to work with a volunteer ambulance service also and then back to class for the advanced EMT course. The town I volunteer with has a 24/7 paid department and two separate volunteer companies, on two separate sides of town, with two separate ideas, but we all have the same goal. Everybody goes home.
Hobbies are probably way too many to list so I'll just cover the top of the list. In no particular order, my fish, NHL, NASCAR, animals of all kinds, and music. Anything but elevator music.
That's all that comes to mind for now. I'll be sure to fill in some gaps as time permits or others ask.
